Professor Paula Lorgelly

Professor of Health Economics Applied Health Research Institute of Epidemiology & Health Faculty of Pop Health Sciences

Paula Lorgelly is a Professor of Health Economics in the Department of Applied Health Research at University College London. Paula has over 20 years’ experience working in academia in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand (including a visiting position in Germany) and the independent sector in the United Kingdom. Paula has worked across the health and medical spectrum and much of her clinical research has focused on oncology, particularly genomics and precision medicine. More recently she has begun working in the digital health/digital technology space, including technologies that utilise AI. Her work focuses on the methods use to evaluate technologies and interventions, innovations in reimbursement policies (for example outcome-based payments) and outcome measurement. Paula is the national organiser of the UK Health Economists’ Study Group (HESG), an elected position. She is a member of the EuroQol Group, and on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Cancer Policy, The Patient and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Research interests are categorised as: health economics, economic evaluation, outcome measurement, preference elicitation.
